58 Pattern Water Bottle

The 58 Pattern water bottle is a standard issue piece of British military field equipment, introduced as part of the 58 Pattern Webbing system. Designed for durability and practicality, it became a long serving component of kit for the British Army from the late 1950s onward.

Constructed from tough black plastic, the bottle is built to withstand rough handling in the field while remaining lightweight and easy to carry. It is typically paired with a metal mug that nests neatly beneath it, allowing for heating water or preparing rations when needed. The set is housed in a webbing pouch that attaches securely to load bearing equipment, keeping it accessible at all times.

Simple and effective in design, the 58 Pattern water bottle was used across a wide range of environments and deployments, becoming a familiar part of British soldier’s kit. Its continued use alongside later systems reflects its reliability and practical design.
