The ALICE LC2 rig is a classic piece of U.S. military load bearing equipment, developed as part of the All Purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment system introduced in the 1970s. The LC2 designation refers to the second generation of this system, which improved on earlier designs with better weight distribution and increased durability.

Built around a simple and modular concept, the rig consists of a pistol belt and shoulder suspenders designed to carry essential gear in a balanced and accessible way. Ammunition pouches, canteens, first aid kits, and other field items could be attached using the ALICE clip system, allowing the setup to be adjusted depending on mission requirements.

Constructed from tough nylon materials, the LC2 rig was made to withstand harsh conditions while remaining relatively lightweight. Its design prioritized practicality and ease of use, giving soldiers the ability to carry necessary equipment comfortably over extended periods.

The system saw widespread use from the late Cold War through conflicts such as the Gulf War and into the early stages of the War in Afghanistan. Over time, it became a recognizable part of U.S. military gear before being gradually replaced by more modern load bearing systems.
