M81 Battle Dress Uniform Shirt
The M81 BDU, commonly known as the Woodland Battle Dress Uniform, is one of the most recognizable military camouflage patterns ever produced. Introduced in the early 1980s, it became the standard issue uniform for U.S. forces during the late Cold War and remained in widespread use through the 1990s and early 2000s. Its distinctive four-color woodland pattern featuring a mix of green, brown, black, and sand tones was designed to provide effective concealment in temperate forest environments.
Built with durability in mind, the M81 BDU was made to withstand the demands of field use. Reinforced construction, practical pocket layouts, and a focus on functionality made it a reliable choice for soldiers in a wide range of conditions. Over time, fading, wear, and field repairs often gave each uniform a unique, broken-in look that reflects its history of use.
The M81 pattern saw service in numerous operations, from training exercises during the Cold War to deployments in places like Panama, the Gulf War, and the Balkans.
