Flecktarn Feldbluse

Flecktarn is a distinctive German camouflage pattern introduced in the late 1970s and officially adopted in the 1990s by the Bundeswehr. Its name, meaning “mottled camouflage,” reflects its unique design made up of small, irregular spots rather than large shapes or linear elements.

The pattern uses a mix of greens, browns, black, and red tones, carefully arranged to blend into temperate European environments. Unlike earlier camouflage styles, Flecktarn relies on a dense distribution of small shapes to disrupt the human silhouette at multiple distances, making it effective in woodland and mixed terrain.

Designed with both concealment and practicality in mind, Flecktarn uniforms are constructed for durability and comfort in the field. The pattern marked a shift toward more advanced camouflage concepts, focusing on how the eye perceives shape and contrast rather than relying solely on larger, more obvious patterns.
