GP-5 Gasmask
The GP-5 gas mask is a Cold War era respirator issued for civilian and military use across the Soviet Union. Introduced in the 1960s, it became one of the most widely produced and recognizable gas masks of the period.
Constructed from rubber, the GP-5 features a simple pull over design that covers the entire head, with two round glass eye lenses and a front mounted filter connection. This compact setup made it easy to store and distribute on a large scale, reflecting its role in civil defense preparedness.
The mask uses a standard screw in filter canister designed to protect against chemical, biological, and radiological threats. Its straightforward construction prioritizes ease of use, allowing it to be quickly donned in emergency situations.
