The S6 respirator is a Cold War era British military gas mask, issued to the British Army as a successor to earlier postwar designs. Introduced in the 1960s, it was developed to provide reliable protection against chemical threats while improving comfort and simplicity for the wearer.

Constructed from a durable rubber facepiece, the S6 features two round eye lenses that offer a clear field of vision, along with a direct mount filter system that attaches to the mask itself. This straightforward design eliminated the need for external hoses, making it more compact and easier to use in the field. An adjustable head harness ensured a secure fit, allowing it to be worn effectively alongside standard issue helmets and equipment.

The respirator remained in service through the late Cold War and is closely associated with British forces during the Falklands War, where it formed part of standard issue kit. Its practical design and compatibility with other gear made it a dependable piece of protective equipment during this period.
