Sapogi Kirza Jackboots
The Sapogi Kirza jackboots are a traditional piece of Soviet military footwear, widely issued to forces of the Soviet Unionfor decades. Designed for durability and ease of mass production, they became a standard item of issue for soldiers throughout the 20th century.
Constructed from kirza, a synthetic leather substitute made from layered fabric treated for water resistance, these boots offered a practical and cost effective alternative to full leather construction. The tall, pull on design extends up the calf, providing protection from mud, water, and rough terrain while eliminating the need for laces.
The boots were typically worn with foot wraps rather than socks, a system that allowed for better moisture control and adaptability in the field. Their simple construction made them easy to maintain and well suited for long term use in a variety of conditions.
