West German Moleskin Trousers
West German moleskin is a durable and practical uniform material widely issued to the Bundeswehr during the Cold War. Introduced in the 1960s, it became a standard part of everyday field clothing, valued for its toughness, comfort, and reliability in a wide range of conditions.
Made from heavy cotton moleskin fabric, the material is densely woven to provide excellent resistance to wear while offering a degree of wind resistance. Despite its rugged construction, it remains comfortable to wear and gradually softens over time with use. Its solid olive color reflects a practical approach, suitable for temperate environments without relying on camouflage patterns.
Uniforms made from moleskin were designed with functionality in mind, featuring straightforward construction and layouts that prioritized ease of movement and long term durability. They were well suited for both training and field duties, handling regular use in demanding conditions.
